A Ramadan of Resilience: Congressional Advocacy with Poligon

2020 was an unprecedented challenge. The COVID-19 pandemic took over 500,000 lives and left millions of Americans jobless. We cannot ignore that Black, Brown, Indigenous, and immigrant households often suffered the most.

This is why work at Poligon is so valuable, while the world went into lockdown Poligon went to work!

Our community needed leadership on COVID relief advocacy. We met with Congress Members, made policy recommendations, and advocated to ensure every American gets relief in nutrition assistance, stimulus payments, housing protections, unemployment benefits, COVID-19 testing, and vaccine distribution. We collaborated with interfaith partners and coalition members, and shared resources with impacted communities such as our COVID-19 Policy Update Center. Despite social distancing and virtual work, we delivered advocacy trainings to 500+ Muslim Americans.

Today, with every vaccine dose, new job, and recovering family, we hold space for community resilience and the work that made a better future possible. We will continue to strengthen and empower the Muslim community, and assure they feel heard in Congress.
